What to do?
Newcastle is a beautiful town with plenty of exciting activities to do and places to explore. Take a walk in Donard park, just 2 minutes walk from Park Avenue, this is the gateway to climbing Slieve Donard, Northern Ireland's Highest mountain (852m climbed right from sea level). Close to hand are Tollymore Forest and Murlough National reserve where you can enjoy the quiet walks with breaktaking views. After it all you cozy down to a culinary adventure on Main street and test some of the best local dishes. Whether you are looking for adventure or a place to relax and unwind there is plenty for everyone of all ages to enjoy.
Oh, and if golf is your thing, Newcastle has you covered there also with one Ireland's and the world's most naturally beautiful links settings in the Murlough Nature Reserve.
Not so far away is the magical Tollymore forest park with woodland walks and adventures to begin. This location was used to film scenes from the Game of Thrones including the Haunted forest, north of the wall and Wolfswood near Winterfell. Just a few minutes drive from Newcastle center or if you are feeling adventurous about 6km hike along gravel paths
One of the hidden secret of the mourns is Silent Valley reservoir just 25 minutes drive from Newcastle though stunning scenery and past plenty of dry stone walls which the area is famous for. Ringed by mountains, Silent Valley, located within the Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a great space for walkers or a family day out.
